MythTv No TV, No Recording

A friend at work is trying to set up his mythtv box using ubuntu. Everything seems correct, but he gets no TV through myth. He can watch tv using VLC but he cannot use Myth to watch or record TV. He has not tried to view any other type of media (video files) through mythtv yet.

He has a hauppauge 350 and is using ivtv driver.

When he clicks on the watch tv button he gets a black screen for a few seconds then it kicks back to the menu screen. Same thing with recording. It says the show was recorded, when he goes to watch it, black screen then kick back. File size is 0 (he thinks).

Any suggetions. This is not digital cable.

He might want to check which input is being used in the MythTV setup. There are like 4 (tv1, tv2, line in, etc..) available for the Hauppauge cards. He might want try changing it to see which one is correct.
