I was wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for an HTML based presentation template or tool for Linux.

I know there are a bunch of LaTeX tools, but I was hoping for something that is HTML based so that I could "play" the presentation using any browser.

If I knew enough HTML+CSS I could create my own, but I was hoping there were some shortcuts for Linux that could be used to do some of the heavy lifting so that I could code the pages easily with HTML markup or simplified markup.

If you have used any tools or templates to create presentations that can be shown in any browser I would love a heads up. Thanks

Yeah, use OpenOffice presenter. Build your presentation and export it to html.

I should have been more specific. I need to use a method or template tool that will run on old slow hardware. The machine I want to use for this purpose does not have the horse power to run OpenOffice, so I'm wondering if anyone has use one of the tools or templates out there that are HTML based.

I was looking at this one S5, but I'm open to other ideas.

Actually, I just gave a presentation at my local LUG. I used OpenOffice Impress. However, the only moble PC that I have does not belong to me, it belongs to work. It has Windows on it. I wondered what I was going to do to show this presentation because I had done the whole thing on one of my linux computers. I did not want to carry one of my Linux towers to the LUG.

I decided to install OpenOffice on the Windows Laptop, and use it to show the presentation. However, during the presentation I had a system crash, and was forced to do a reboot of the Windows Laptop. Of course, as you can imagine the LUG had a great time with this.

That is one of the reasons I asked this question. My smallest, lightest tower is just a little weak on memory at 192megs for OpenOffice. However, it is good enough for Firefox or Opera or Seamonkey. So I was looking into other presentation options.

Also the idea of doing you presentation in VIM by editing a simple HTML file sounds great to me. It would be a lot quicker in some ways than messing around with click here, click there, and then all the formating options. A CSS stylesheet would take care of that with an HTML template.

Its odd, because i swear ive seen some of these tools when i am looking for something else, but i have no idea where there are.

Thanks, those are great links which I have not seen yet in my research. Have you used any of these tools?

After Linc's suggestion, I decided to give the OpenOffice export to HTML option a try. It was ok, but you had to click on a graphic to advance, and it took each slide and scaled it down in the browser window, making some graphics and text which I used in the presentation a lot smaller. It would have worked, but these links have great example presentations, that look great in Firefox.

Ive not tried them, but i am sure there good, Slidy is a on the w3 domain , so you will not have any problems regardless of browser , if the browser meets open standards anyway.

On the same site of xmlpresenter , the guy has made a cool vim tutorial using slides with vim key-mappings
