That should seal the deal. I will have to get a Wii, now. Guitar Hero was the first console video game I've played in a decade that I actually enjoyed. I didn't get to play the Gamecube stuff, though, which is a shame since I've always liked Nintendo's games.

A lot of people say the GameCube failed, you know what, it didn't, it sold almost as many units as the original Xbox, and it earned Nintendo a buttload of cash, and unlike Microsoft, Nintendo actually managed to make money on both the hardware and the software, how is that failing?

Sure, it wasn't a complete and total failure in terms of making Nintendo money, but it failed at recapturing the massive share of the market Nintendo once had. It definitely fell by the wayside of Sony and their PS2 juggernaut, and 3rd-party developers ultimately jumped ship from the GameCube fairly early on.

The hatred for Sony after the rootkit debacle and the ridiculously high price for including Blu-Ray in their PS3 should only help Nintendo recapture market share. The XBox has been a huge loss for Microsoft the entire time it has been out, and they only seem to have a few games worth owning that can't be had on other platforms. I'm sort of glad Sony gave Nintendo the prodding they needed to take risks and try something new. The Nintendo DS keeps doing better, that controller of the Wii alone makes it worth checking out, and the fact that Nintendo has been pretty clever about their games doesn't hurt, either. Nintendo has had their share of monopolistic or predatory practices, but compared to Sony and Microsoft, they're the obvious lesser of three evils, now, and at least they deliver the goods and have made good games this whole time.

You know what they say, if you want something done, you gotta do it yourself. Which I guess is what Iwata and Miyamoto thought.

Nintendo has changed a lot in recent years, a new boss and bam everything changes! What I think is great about Satoru Iwata, is that he is not some office dickhead that doesn't play games and have little clue about 'em, this guy spent years coordinating game development at HAL Labs, and had a huge influence on the development of Smash Bros. for the N64.

AFAIK, the GameCube only sold about 2½ million less units than the Xbox did, on a global basis. Unless the numbers have changed above and beyond, since last time I looked (5 mins. ago), they should be somewhere around 21½ million for the GameCube and 24 million for the Xbox.
Sure, it's not 100+ million, but at the same time, Nintendo is not arrogant about everything, like a certain other Japanese game console manufacturer.

Well, since Windows is not a UNIX-like OS, that would be really really hard to do, as you would need to use the Windows kernel as the kernel for a UNIX-like OS.

Just because something is under GPL doesn't necessarily make it "GNU/"something.

That's true GNU “GNU's Not Unix” , i was not actually referring to a application being GNU.
Maybe linc could rename bashpodder to GNU/bashpodder

Not really, because Bashpodder is not an OS, the slash indicates a combination. And even though Bashpodder is a bash script, it's not a combination of anything.

Examples:
GNU/Linux -> GNU + Linux
GNU Emacs -> GNU version of Emacs
