Best gnome app for feed management and player update?

Hi all,

I would like to know peoples opinions on the best player and feedmanager for linux? I tend to use gnome and have an ipod (as to why an ipod see below). I have not found any software that meets my needs nicely.

Currently I use banshee which handles feeds nicely but it dumps all the podcasts into the same folder as my music on the ipod making it difficult to find shows. Also if you decided to shuffle your music you end up getting podcast played in the middle of the playlist.

The ideal software for me would
1) Manage feeds well,
2) Handle syncing of the ipod well, currently I just overwrite all the time,
3) Separate the podcasts from the music on the ipod.

Ok -- So why an ipod?

When I did my shopping I couldn't understand why people would pay R2000 odd for a 4 gig nano or iriver or sandisk etc when for just R3500 you could get a 60 gig ipod. I just havent found any other mp3 player that can compete with this size and price. If there are others let me know.

regards

Mark

You could always use fusepod and bashpodder, you might have to change some of the code in bashpodder to do what you would like though. I'm not sure how well that would work as I just use Amarok but its worth a shot.

I'll have to check when I get home, but is there something there that Rhythmbox doesn't do? I know Troels hates it, but it usually works for me, and always labels the downloads from RSS feeds as Podcasts, which I like, so I can pick them out by genre. I think it keeps the downloads under ~/Podcasts too, though I may have selected that.

The only problem I've found is that it doesn't always delete properly. Sometimes I go in with gpodder (I think that's it...) and clean some stuff out. I've even gone to the command line to take some out, as well, if the database doesn't show it and none of the other programs take care of it quickly enough for me.

Rhythmbox is great, I use it all the time even thought I been having some issues with jfeeds from feedruner. Dunno if its just me or the site.

Most of my podcasts are handle by Opera.
