this is so true - after 14 years we still have microsoft putting out the same bs and trash os with microsoft trying to lockin the api's on the internet (internet explorer only web pages and windows only codecs,drm). when will the CIO's of the world wake up and realize they are doing their companies no favors when they write internet only web pages and agree to secret nda contracts and have their vendors tell them how to run their IT infrastructure because the vendors buy them dinner or bring them donuts.In a press conference at the Red Hat Summit in San Diego, Red Hat CEO Matt Szulik said customers have been asking for better interoperability for 14 years and have received nothing from Microsoft. True interoperability, he said, will be achieved by supporting open standards at the middleware layer in a service-oriented environment, not through private corporate partnerships.
nice to actually hear this from a CEO. I just hope other CEO's and CIO's are listening.When asked if Red Hat would try to execute similar deals to make corporate customers "feel good" about its Linux interoperability with Windows, Szulik said customers don't want what Microsoft and Novell are selling.
