Looks good if you want a dell. I'm pretty damn picky about my lappys, so I doubt I'll be getting off my current plan of buying clearance stinkpads every few years any time soon.

Same here. I applaud Dell for doing this, but I love my ThinkPad, and I can't imagine buying anything else.

i have a dell laptop, its a few years old, but its fine for what i want to do, everything works perfectly.
I always think thinkpads are the expensive option (brand new ) and apart from Active Protection System and Biometric fingerprint reader i see nothing that no other vendors cannot offer.

I just like the build quality, and the level of compatibility with free Unix operating systems. If you shop around, you can find good deals online. Not to mention ThinkPads look bad-ass.

Looks like a decent machine, so I might check out the least expensive one. All the laptops in the series use the ATI video card, though. I assumed they would go with the Intel GMA. I truly want open drivers on all the hardware, since I'm so damned sick of having to mess around with the proprietary drivers. I swear they break at least half the time when I upgrade the kernel. Even if they didn't break, they're still the wrong way to do things; how on earth can you hope to support a linux machine with a kernel that can't be troubleshooted because of a binary blob?
