After making the field in dramatic fashion, the tux500 entry finished, um, last.
The Linux-sponsored car driven by Roberto Moreno crashed on lap 37. Moreno said the car had handling problems from the start: "The car had a bad wiggle all over the place," Moreno said in a release. "It was very tough. When I got to turn one, we just went straight. I couldn't do anything."
Well, at least Linux made the race; not a bad first effort. Maybe next year we can do better. Also, some of the clowns who called this a pump-and-dump scam have been proven wrong. Let's see if they apologize online.
A total of $18,306 was given by donors from 37 countries. The average donation was $21.46. Interestingly, Linux From Scratch users donated more ($1,210) than the users of any other distro.
