I have to say that I really enjoyed Tsuroerusu's little talk about free software friendly hardware. In fact, I wish I could type fast enough to note all of the good points and products he mentioned. I wondered if Tsuroerusu would be willing to put all of that great knowledge into a TLLTS wiki entry or send me the notes with that information privately.

You made some great points and talked about hardware that is worth considering. I have no idea what graphics cards work well with free drivers. I have no idea what graphics cards work well with free drivers and the new 3D effects. I have often thought about looking for hardware, even old hardware like what was mentioned to complete my systems that play well with free drivers.

I also have no idea what wireless cards PCMCIA, PCI, or USB at NewEgg.com will work out of the box if I buy them. I have no idea what graphics cards to buy at newegg.com either because I have heard of even some of the newer NVIDIA and ATI cards have issues with the proprietary drivers, and some motherboards have issues with the NVIDIA networking chips and Linux. I would love to have information like that easily available at my figure tips to review before buying new hardware.

After all, if we like Free Software, why not make the effort to buy hardware that is better supported by Free Software. Since I'm not into gaming or 3D stuff anyway, I should be using the hardware that is supported by the Free Software. I should also end up with a more stable system, and I already think I have a stable system to begin with.

Anyway, great job Tsuroerusu! Maybe keeping up such a list would be a better use of your time and a bigger help to the free software community than trying to write blog entries.

Thank you for your kind words, I am gonna see what I can do about this. Since I've got summer holiday until the 20th of August I have boatloads of free time on my hands!

Jeez, thanks a lot. Just kidding. Well, my blog is not really meant to promote free software directly, although since it mentions it, and I use to recommend free software, it sorta does indirectly, but it's not meant as a free software advocacy blog.
