Whilst we've known the show was going to the US, and we knew Richard was going to reprise his role as Moss, we didn't know what it was going to look like. Until now that is... NBC have stuck up a smallish site to preview the show, with pictures a cast list and brilliant snippet where Richard explains his character to the American audience -

Moss will be the only original one moving over to the US version. I don't know if this means the end of the original BBC version. They should have left the damn show alone and air it in the US as is. It's not as if it's in a different language for heavens sake.

Well, it worked for The Office and was a total mess for Coupling. I guess that's a 50/50 chance, based on track record.

I don't understand why NBC won't just air the original version in the States. The UK IT Crowd is hilarious, and I think the actors that play Roy and Jen are great. Are Americans really THAT introverted, that they must have all television programming homogenized and Americanized before they'll take to it?
Like greggh pointed out, it's not like the show is in another language, it's in English for crying out loud!

George Bernard Shaw was said that "England and America are two countries divided by a common language" and Oscar Wilde wrote, "We have really everything in common with America nowadays, except, of course, the language"
Humours as those two comments are, there are noticeable differences with grammar and spelling.
I think the real reason why the original is not aired in the states is because of copyright.

Sad but true. I too think they should just air the original over here. But I'll still give the new version a chance.
