I was telling my friend that he should check out TLLTS, and mentioned that they interviewed some pretty notable people and mentioned that Sallman was on. I heard the last Stallman interview, but then remembered that I think they mentioned that he was on before. Sure enough, I searched the archive and found that he was first on episode 79. Listening to it right now. Interested to see if the first interview was as combative as the second one. I have to admit I was squirming a bit while listening to the last Stallman interview. It was pretty uncomfortable and lots of tension at some points. Anyway, going back through the archives is fun stuff.

Edit: That was much better than the second interview. Not nearly as combative. I squirmed much less in my chair this time.

That was classic, but also a little sad. He really seemed genuine in that he was kind of lonely. The guy seems incapable of being dishonest or evasive. That's a very rare an admirable quality.

I honestly don't see what's so funny, I mean I wish I had a girlfriend at times.

They never said it was funny, Being classic does not inherently mean its humours in nature.

I'm not that worried about getting a girlfriend. I'd be happy if women noticed I existed from time to time

Not singling anyone here out, but you meet very few women between your monitor and your chair. Many geeks I know a) suffer from asperger's or have similar symptoms, and b) refuse to do anything IRL that doesn't include caffeine and bringing their lappy. Getting out of the house, exercising, and having priorities that include things other than which distro and whether the GPL sux or rox definitely helps out with the whole chix0rz thing.

I almost wish I had a picture of one of my lady friends I could show you, very beautiful girl, both on the inside and the outside.

I wasn't talking about women, actually, but the same holds true for them, I suppose. My pint was that a lot of geeks I know are overweight, smoke too much, drink too many sodas, and never do anything outside that they don't have to. Life is for living, not for absorbing rads via your monitor. Again, I'm certainly not singling anyone here out - it seems like most folks around here have a healthy mixture of interests. However, I am saying that if someone has a hard time meeting women, hanging out 24/7 in their underwear on IRC or WoW, packing garbage food into their gob, is only going to cement them into that position.

I agree. Life is not sitting in front of a computer monitor all day and night. There are so many things to experience in the real world. I almost kind of feel sorry for my generation (I'm 20), because we are growing up in a largely digital and anti-social type of culture. Instead of calling someone on the phone, or talking in person, kids today are chatting over AIM. Instead of getting out of the house and doing something on Saturday nights, kids are wasting hours and hours playing online video games in a fantasy world. It's a waste, IMO.

seriously its not really like there over here in england, troels has mentioned here many times about teenages getting as drunk as they possibly can and sleeping with each other. Getting excessively drunk weather you do it alone out of depression or with a load of friends is anti-social because its almost allways is destructive. Kids that throw bottles over the place, smash property etc. That's is not too say stop drinking, you just go to know when to stop ordering more. Most pubs over here refuse to give drinks to people when they clearly don;t need anymore, however off licences or liqueur stores as you say in northern america don't give a damn what state the customer is in overall.

Its actually quite strange why alcohol is legal and yet weed is not, nobody has ever killed anyone or got into a fight on it, plenty can be said for alcohol...

Sex is less of a issue imo, as long as the people getting it agree to it. date drugs are sadly becoming more and more used. Also precaution about STDs and pregnancies need to be widened . What there doing in the USA with Virginity pledge does not seem to be that successfull over here, although i don't agree with it all because its a persons right what they do with there body. Because having a child at a young age you can claim a home and income benefits quite a few school dropouts choose that option.

Living in London does to some extent make making friends harder in that people tend to be doing there own thing more and more and because there are so many people, everyone wants to know more people than they can honestly remember. There are all kinds of things to do , maybe too much. for singles it can be really hard especially amongst crowds of couples. You just feel left out.. Outside of London its probably easily as people are not so pretentious if at all in some parts.
