This will take some getting used to. I really like the idea of being able to upload an attachment in my friend's forum. Could come in quite handy. I'll reserve criticisms of the forum design until I've had time to grow accustomed to it.

I like this upgrade as well, looks fresh, and the various new features look quite interesting.

Nice quick upgrade. I guess it went smoothly without any problems. I'm having trouble getting used to the new prosilver template. A few things I don't like about it are...

don't like avatars on the right
don't like that every topic is now two lines because the author info is put underneath - makes it more difficult to read quickly for me
don't like that the separate author column is gone
don't like the highlighting effect as you roll your mouse over each row

No big deal. As Snarkout pointed out you can just go into your user control panel and switch the board style from prosilver to subsilver2. Subsilver2 is perfect for me, as it seems very much like the old style. You might want to consider making subsilver2 the default.

I'm guessing it will take some time for people to create new plugins for the latest version. I have an "album" mod, and it could be nasty to convert that, though Handyman apparently has made an album mod with explicit instructions for it.

Of course, I've spent a lot of time recently trying to theme my phpBB2 board, and I imagine the new version has a completely different theming system. Should be fun to throw out the previous work I've done (no matter how lackluster), and start anew.

I'll show an example of a conversation thread, just to try the new upload feature. After seeing what heathenx and rfquerin can do, my lack of skill is quite apparent, but I thought it was an interesting concept, it was a nice review of how to use CSS, and I learned that Internet Explorer comes up with an endless variety of ways to screw up CSS floats and transparent pngs, so it's not a total loss, but I imagine I'll upgrade eventually, so whatever energy I had to work on the old board is completely gone.

I like the upload feature, and think it just makes sense. I'll have to say, "Well done," to the phpbb3 devs on that feature. Of course, after uploading that image and proving I have no design talent, I'll go ahead and criticize the design of the default phpbb3 style. It's better than the default phpbb2, and I'm glad they've left the whole "tables within tables" markup behind. Unfortunately, it's not as easy to pick up on new posts, and it still looks cluttered and crowded to me. I definitely agree with greggh about the mouseover effect. It's just distracting, and serves absolutely no purpose. I'm on the opposite opinion of greggh on getting rid of the author row, though. I actually like having the author and the title of the thread together, which is how I had themed my own board, keeping that information connected through their alignment. I even got rid of the "replies" and "views" columns, too, which, IMO, cleaned things up a lot. I really don't care how many views or replies a thread has, I just want to know if there are new posts to read. I don't mind the avatars on the right, but I would like more space between posts.

Those are just quibbles, though. I say great job on the upgrade! It must have gone smoothly, since I was checking the board at least once every hour or so and never noticed a problem.
