I assume a lot of you on here heared the episode talking about the Linux Format reviews. I sent the files to the guys last week (that;s how it was on the show!) and have since uploaded them to my webspace. Feel free to take a look!

Sorry about the upside down pages, but the scanner in work is a bit, erm, crap!

While I haven't listened to LUGRadio for a long time, back when I did, there was more off-topic dumbshittery than on any other podcast I've ever listened to, interspersed with "bollocks," "chin," shite," "ubuntu" and "fuck." I've always had a difficult understanding why they are the gold standard. I mean, distrowars (a segment rating random linux distros based on "evility" and similar that petered out into nothing) he "what the fuck book truck" and a number of similar topics, mixed sparsely with good info and interviews was just not enough to capture my attention. I guess it is well mixed, but considering that a show that spends an inordinate amount of time bashing distros with "proprietary shite" in them is mixed and spliced on windows, that's not a huge plus in my book.

Then again, take this with a grain of salt, since I have dropped 99% of my podcasts at this point (or the ones I really cared about dropped off the face of the planet), and listen to a very select few at this point.

Then again LRL is supposed to be an asskicking event (albeit one that I'll never get to attend) so there's that to consider, too.

TLLTS and LR are my two fave podcasts. I've been listening to TLLTS for about 2 years now and LR for about 6 - 8 months and like them both the same.

TLLTS has great guests and bey indepth interviews nicely interspersed with some fun jokes and general hilarity. The sound quality doesn't bother me as I listen to it on my 770 anyway! And the sound of Dann's kids in the background make it feel like a friendly get together in someones house.

LR on the other hand is a little more British humour (nothing against American humour before I get flamed to hell and back!) so I suppose I get more of the jokes. It's also contains some fun sections (Finger of God rocks!) and it's just the right length to listen to in the car on the way to work (give or take 10 minutes)

All in all, I love most Linux podcasts as they keep me up to date on all the stuff happening in the Linux world!

I'm glad I had the chance to read the review, but I simply can't agree with their evaluation. They seemed to be looking for a quality that is unrealistic for most podcasts. What is Dann supposed to do, rent a store front, build a sound booth, and then record the show?!? All of the guys do this with no money, and out of their homes, we can't complain if there is a little noise from things going on in their homes. Once again I thought the reviewer had an unfair expectation. Glad to see that our community continues to support TLLTS and have been speaking positively about this great show.

I'm glad that they knocked LugRadio guys for the swearing, that does not appeal to me either.

I'm also disappointed that they failed to review shows that have been going on longer than "Linux Outlaws" (which I really like) and "Open Season". Source Trunk is missing. I don't know how you could miss Linux Reality which is very popular and Lotta Linux Links. Both Chess and Dave have been going for two years or longer.

I agree with Snarkout, past episodes of LugRadio have been very light on content, with very brief interviews, and light commentary, and very light on the details. I would say however that they have really picked this up in the latest season. Their review of Enlightenment was excellent. Their look at virtualization was good too, explaining some very complicated things.
