I agree.... I think the survey was not thought all the way through or at least it was very slanted. First of all, It did not take into consideration that there are multiple architectures and some distro's are particular to each. For example you probably might not run fedora on an ixp420 box. If you have a ps3, ppc, single core cpu intel/amd, or multicore intel/amd. you might have several favorites depending on the situation so that no one size fits all.. To me there are only really three major distro's per se. and they are Debian, Slackware, and Redhat. Everything else is just a derivative. I know there are some exceptions to that. there were other issues too but etc etc etc
