If you are going to create a poll, please set it to sticky and give the sticky an expiration date. I recommend 30 days, but don't set it to last forever. This way, the poll will remain at the top of the forum and get some results a significant amount of time.

Please do the same for stickies, provide an expiration date for the sticky. I have no problem with stickies being posted but after a while they will be edited to remove the sticky unless it is pertinent information at which point it will be upgraded to an announcement.

Wow! I didn't realize that non-mods had the permission to create stickies. That's a lot of trust you are putting in the forum members.

I recently tried to set a poll to sticky. I don't think the option to set a topic as sticky appears for regular members. At least I didn't see it.
