SUN are on a shopping spree.

SANTA CLARA, CA February 12, 2008 Sun Microsystems, Inc. it will be interesting to follow, maybe they will even release the non-free version of virtualbox.

I was gonna say, that I hope that Sun would release all of VirtualBox under the GPL.

I'll ditto that hope. But I doubt it...
The two things that MySQL and Innotek have in common is that they have already implemented both closed and open source editions of their software. This is a trend that is mirrored in Sun's own strategy of releasing code to the Open Source community well (should read "while") offering service and support for customers who wish to purchase it.
Also, I'd love to know how much they paid for this.

I have been a little curious about innotek's business model - I mean, donations are apparently unneeded/unwelcome. I'm curious why Sun has been on a buying spree recently - as far as I know, they've been bleeding money and employees for years. Isn't teh usual turnaround in these cases to tighten your belt, gird your loins, and focus on your core strengths? It seems like they're just trying to widen their portfolio, and gain FOSS support in randomish ways right now. To me at least.
