A few years ago I would have said Lilo, just because it was so easy setup to dual boot XP and Linux when installed on the same drive, but now I just use grub.

I moved to GRUB about 4 years ago, and even then I thought I was a luddite in fear of new technology.

LILO was fine in it's day, but once you've learned GRUB, it really is a lot better (as long as it works on your system). Editing a config file and not having to remember to run /sbin/lilo is great. I also love being able to edit the configuration at boot time. It's dug me out of a hole more than once.

TBH, I'm always surprised when I discover someone prefers LILO, and am even more surprised when I discover a distro (ahem, slack, ahem) still uses it. Someone must know something I don't know.

Lilo sucks. I honestly don't know why Pat hasn't switched Slackware to GRUB. Must be due to some deep-seated hatred for all things GNU. Until Pat brings back GNOME, switches to GRUB, and offers a 64-bit distribution, I'm sticking with Gentoo.

Its not from Pat , http://www.slamd64.com/ , i used it for a while, its just slackware packages compiled for 64 bit. There was never a 2.4.x kernel though, because there were problem but overall its identical packages.

Yeah, I know about Slamd64 and Bluewhite64. Neither distribute GNOME as far as I know, and neither have a coherent package manager or very large software repository, so I haven't bothered to try them.
