(07-07) 20:11 PDT OAKLAND -- Convicted killer Hans Reiser led police Monday to what he said was the body of his wife in the Oakland hills, just two days before he was to be sentenced for first-degree murder, authorities said.

The remains that Reiser revealed Monday were found about 4 p.m. buried next to a deer trail between Redwood Regional Park and the Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve, about 200 yards behind a house on Skyline Boulevard, said Reiser's attorney, William Du Bois, who accompanied his client to the site.

The body was less than a half-mile from where the home on Exeter Drive where Reiser lived with his mother, and where Nina Reiser, 31, was last seen alive Sept. 3, 2006.

For a supposedly smart guy, boy is he stupid.

Hopefully he's murdered in prison after being assraped repeatedly with a shiv. He is beneath contempt.

Sometimes guys that are really bright in one area are not so much in others. I think he killed her in the heat of the moment and couldn't come up with a very good plan off the top of his head. From the crazy friend that was having the affair with his deceased wife, I thought he could have put on a great defense and said his adulterous friend did it. All he needed was reasonable doubt. But perhaps in his arrogance he thought he could work magic on the stand. That turned out well. Then again, it's good that criminals are stupid or more would be free.

I'm still using ReiserFS on my desktop machine, and it has worked well with no issues. So much for future versions.

Most of your really bad types are usually narcissistic sociopaths. They are so full of themselves (they can do no wrong), extremely charismatic, and in most cases they are also pathological liars. I do not think they can ever be mentally fixed or rehabilitated. I was fully behind this guy in being innocent. I saw his picture and you can see the evil in his eyes. Animals are usually better at detecting a true human spirit than most people. People who are at peace generally attract small animals (unless hungry) very easily.

So much for the death penalty. Doesn't California still have it on the books? When was the last time they actually used it? What's the point of the death penalty when they give 15 to life sentences for murdering someone in cold blood?

Yes, we have the death penalty. There was a bunch of court battles over our lethal injection and how it was administered, and I believe they've worked out the details. It's kind of worthless though as it takes too long, costs too much, and isn't much of a deterrent. My personal belief is that we should just give the life without possibility of parole and put them in with the regular population. On Death Row they have their own room and aren't allowed to come in contact with anyone else.

Hans got a light sentence of 25 years originally because the case was a little weak. They didn't have a body, and it was circumstantial evidence with no witnesses. Still, the deal of 15 years in normal lockup is no picnic, . He'll be an old man starting from scratch if he ever makes it out. He seems like the type to let it break him though.

We have the death penalty in Texas and that has not stopped crime at all per se. After Katrina and Rita, crime went up after all the influx of people from Lousyana (Louisiana). Crime did seem to go down just a bit after the gentleman in I think Pasadena (a suburb to houston so to speak) decided to take the law into his own hands. What gets me is that all the liberals rained on his parade. I would like to bus a lot of non-Texans up north and then see how they feel about it.
