A new Slackware logo has appeared on the Slackware website:

This logo sucks ass so much that on a scale of 1-10 of ass sucking it's an 11.

I am sorry, but that thing doesn't belong on website, but rather on a dung heap! It's that bad!!

What is under the hood that counts. I could care less about the logo. The logo can always be changed anyway.

That looks awful. Keep the old logo and update the damn website so it reflects the 21st-century. The old logo was great, it's the website that looks like ass. Now the whole thing looks like ass.

The more I look at it the more it reminds me of a CAPTCHA. The difference being that at least with most CAPTCHAs and enough squinting I can usually make out the letters. This logo is damn near unreadable. I mean, this logo is so bad that it almost has to be a joke Patrick Volkerding is playing on the community.

You're right. I can almost make out that it says slack jars or slack wars or slark jars or is it sjark jars when I turn my monitor upside down.

I paid homage to Patrick and ordered a black T-shirt with the new logo. I do run it on my desktop at home and need to show some love. I think it's alright overall.

I'm looking forward to the new KDE 4.1 on the next version of Slackware. I played with 4.0 a little on my laptop running Fedora 9, and I can't wait until 4.1 hits the repos as I'll run that full time over Gnome on the laptop.

Well, one positive thing about the new logo is that it will definitely increase Slackware's word of mouth recommendations. From now on it won't be enough to simply point someone to the web page or wear a t-shirt. You'll be forced to answer the inevitable question, "what the hell does this say?". I guess that provides a good opportunity to talk more about Slack.

I don't care for it personally. It looks somewhat contrived. But it's only a logo, Slack is by and large unbranded in typical usage and I'll continue to use it.

Oh yeah, and there's improper English in one of the original poll questions.

I'll be succinct: yuck.

Slackware still rocks, though.
