KDE 4.1

Is anyone else using it? I did an install on Arch, and I have to say, it's pretty nice. Buggy, but nice. It takes a little getting used to after using KDE 3 for so long, but all in all, it's slick. I like the new Konqueror + Dolphin combination. Finally it feels like I have a proper web browser and file manager, and not one application trying to be both. The new widgets are kinda neat, although mostly useless. I like the Dictionary widget that lets you look up words right on your desktop. That's quite handy. The new Oxygen theme is slick, and I like how KDE 4 has built in OpenGL desktop effects, essentially making Compiz obsolete.
All in all I could see using this on a daily basis. It still feels buggy and somewhat unfinished, but it's very usable.

I have to agree with your review. I also am using KDE4.1 thanks to a rolling upgrade to my arch box. It is pretty nice, and like you say buggy. In particular scrolling up and down pdf files sometimes causes only part of the document to scroll, I have looked around the NET for other people having the same issue, but It may just be on my machine. I can install another reader to get around this.

I have not used Dolphin before, but I like it so far. I am going to give it a go for a few more weeks, while I consider trying out Openbox.

I have been using 4.1 (Kubuntu Intrepid) since alpha 3 as my main OS, mostly because my desktop system is currently dead, but as it is running so well on my older P4-M laptop I decided to use it every day. I don't find it particularly buggy, though hardcore KDE3 lovers will miss some of the, well, missing bits they have gotten accustomed to.
IMO, KDE4 is ready for day-to-day use right now, but doesn't have (yet) all the bells and whistles (and some of the tools) that took a while to get into KDE3.x, and a few major apps aren't yet completely ported over - Amarok (almost there), Konversation (in the works), Koffice (still in alpha). The current stable versions of Amarok and konversation do run just fine in KDE4, however.
If anyone remembers the transition from KDE2 to KDE3, they will be familiar with how it is going now. Just as KDE3.2 was when the DE came into its own, I think KDE4.2 is where the same will occur in this series.
