paypal security verification

This morning I logged into paypal and was presented with:
We are currently performing regular maintenance of our security measures. Your account has been randomly selected for this maintenance, and you will now be taken through a series of identity verification pages.
There is a form to enter my credit card and banking account information. Has anyone seen this before? I find it odd they would want to do this. Furthermore, everything about the site seems legit along with the security certificate.

Contact PayPal about this. Also, take note of the URL that shows on the address bar and send it to PayPal even if the URL looks legit. Maybe even sending a screenshot might help.

I just logged in without problem. I do have the Paypal dongle that I use which gives you the number to add at the end of your password. So maybe they're not worried about me.

I was getting a lot of paypal email spoofs for a while. I would recommend sending those emails to paypal security. IF you are logging into the paypal site and getting issues then contact paypal anyway. I do not use paypal anymore, but never had those issues when I did use it.

I just ordered one of the those RSA keys from Paypal for $5. It should show up in the next 10 days. Well worth it.

Just to be clear, this was not an email. This was occurring when I would log into Paypal. I was concerned about some dns poisoning so I tried from work and received the same thing. I called PayPal and they verified that this was a legitimate screen on their end.
Interestingly enough I could not find their support number without logging in. And to log in I had to provide the above information. There was a non-toll free number to use but I was not going to trust it should there be problems from what I was seeing. So a co-worker logged into his account and told me the number.
I guess someone from a different geographic location was trying to access my account. Go figure.
