I have the Samsung C01U microphone and I would like to use it with my Ubuntu 8.10 machine. Anyone know how to set up this rascal in Ubuntu? I have found some stuff about setting it up in JACK but that seems to conflict with the default sound settings in the admin menu (not that I have got it to work in JACK).

I currently have this microphone working on my windows gaming laptop, so I know the microphone works.

I found an online article that pointed me to the alsa mixer. In that program I enabled the microphone and raised the recording volume. It works perfectly in the applications I need now (mumble and audacity).

The sound preferences test still does not work, which is odd and disturbing. However, it works with my apps so I am happy...
