That was funny. I heard a rumor that Apple might be coming out with a netbook here shortly. That will be interesting when Jobs said they couldn't make a computer for under $500 that wasn't junk.

Apple's netbook will have lower specs than cheaper netbooks and will sell for $501, thereby ensuring the Apple faithful that it is not a "piece of junk".

Considering how many issues that macbooks have had lately, jobs should not be one to talk about junk. Rumor has it that jobs might step down and Apple is no longer going to support macworld in public.

Apple will be out of business, or close to it, in 5 years.

And BSD is dying....
Apple won't be at Macworld anymore, but the conference isn't going to end. Of course, it won't be the same Macworld that people are used to. Maybe that's a good thing, since it would then focus more on the third party developers instead of Apple overshadowing them all the time.
I do agree about the hardware problems they've had, and I just don't see it getting any better for the Macs. I have a feeling Apple is going to phase out the Mac in coming years. Jobs has said that he would milk the Mac as dry as possible until it's time to retire the line, so the fact that Apple has been rather negligent on putting out reliable Macs kind of speaks for itself. I have a friend who purchased a white MacBook not too long ago and is now having problems with the mouse button (feels like it's stuck on the down position). Yeah, she's got 4 kids that probably touch the hell out of it, but for the price you pay you'd think that it would survive that easily. I would say that Jobs is right when he says that they can't build a computer for $500 that wasn't junk, because in the last few years it seems that they've been good at building junk at a much higher cost. So much for their reputed quality....not so much anymore.
I hear that if they do make a netbook, that it will be ARM-based since the battery life on the ARM-based devices are much better.

Why are they no longer supporting MAC World?

I would like to believe it's because Jobs suddenly had an epiphany that he doesn't want to spend the rest of his life hawking trendy shiny baubles of computers, that really offer nothing of substantive value anymore. Steve once said to John Scully to get him to come to Apple from Pepsi, "You want to spend the rest of your life selling sugar water?". Well I think Steve may have realized that what Apple now sells is pretty much sugar water.

Well, the news sites are saying that it's for political reasons. It was costing them more money to be at Macworld each year. Also, it seems that Jobs was getting tired of the "One More Thing" and was looking to have Apple focus on their own releases as they've been doing with WWDC and the special announcements. It just wasn't viable to Apple anymore, I guess. Still, I think it's a good thing as I mentioned before because the focus will be more on the vendors for Apple, not so much Apple itself.
Now for the conspiracy theory, it's also suspected that it may have to do with his health and that he's looking to pass the reigns over to someone else. I would imagine it would probably be along the lines of how Bill Gates transitioned out of the company's everyday affairs. Hopefully for Apple, it won't go to a MonkeyBoy.

The ironic part to the video is that computers at one time were the size of a warehouse. Now they can fit in something the size of a usb drive (i.e gumstix). The "Dick Tracy" watch is not far away especially is there is universal wifi....

The rumor mills are running, but some think they'll Appleize the Developer Conference they run where they have more control. I went to the MacWorld when they introduced the iPhone, and there isn't that much there if you remove Apple (I went for free to see the Diggnation live recording so no calling Apple boy as I have no Apple products). It was an interesting show and experience.
Since Jobs won't be giving the keynote this year, many are speculating that he's leaving Apple. With the economy getting bad, maybe leaving on a high is a good thing. Maybe health plays into it as well.
