A little late to the party, no?

They've had issues a lot in the last 4 years. Failing iMacs with bad capacitors, failing Power Mac G5s (especially the ones with the water-cooling, something that I've always thought was the most STUPID idea ever to come out of the computing industry), overheating 1G MacBooks and MacBook Pros, failing nVIDIA graphics on SR-based MacBook Pros and now on the Unibody MacBook and MacBook Pro models. My iMac G5 actually had to be taken in twice this year for the bad capacitor issue. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on the first time because everyone was affected by the capacitor plague, but when the replacement motherboard exhibited the same problem, I had to hold Apple responsible. And those little pimple-faced fsckers at the Apple Store deserve a 2x4 with a rusty nail to the temple, especially when they refute your years of expertise on Macs.

And we could go farther to the 52xx/62xx Power Macs and the "flaming" PowerBook 5300, but they did have some quality products back then (the Quadra 650 that was given to me in 2003 is still running today, and that's a 15 year old computer!). Today, nothing they have is really of much value anymore. Sad, because I do like their products (I got to play with the Unibody MacBook and MacBook Pro the other day and it was nice)....but until the quality comes back, my money goes exclusively to those who value function over form.

I can't wait for the day that Jobs is out of Apple.

One thing I always thought was coincidental was that umax maker of licensed mac clones till they started selling better than macs did, used the same exact computer case. Another coincidence Dell computers had the same exact capacitor problems that Apple did at the same time. Dell wanted to sell macs at one time. Those are just to name a few.

I believe it's just Apple trying to be different, but they've called it a logic board since the days of the Apple II. I don't know what the difference is exactly.

As for the clones, Power Computing, Umax, and a few others actually offered better options than Apple did at a cheaper price, but I also remember hearing how buggy those clones used to be compared to Apple's Macs. I had a 200 MHz Motorola StarMax 4000 tower before I got my iMac G5 and it seemed like a pretty solid Mac clone to me, albeit a little drab-looking compared to Apple's other Macs. I was told that the StarMax 4000 was nothing more than a Power Macintosh 4400 logic board in a different case.
