Talk about blessed timing. I bet that VC would like that money back today after Google's announcement it's open sourcing Jaiku.

Interesing that Jaiku was open sourced. Leo Laporte once said that he preferred Jaiku over Twitter, but the latter won. Now that Jaiku will be open sourced, it might be something to consider. Of course, the Laconica framework is still building a name for itself IMO. Not sure how this is going to affect that project.

Google App Engine? Doesn't that mean Jaiku's gonna be in python?

I think python's cool, but in this case i suppose identica will attract more users because it's PHP-MySQL based.
