I remember several years back there was a music player that would accept a sd card. I think it would only play mp3 files. I would like to find something like this so I could store my audio books on sd cards. Most of those are mp3 anyway, it is hard to find ogg audio books. Does anyone know of a player like this?

I have a Sandisk Sansa E250 player that accepts micro sd cards. You can find them pretty cheap on ebay. I think all of the Sansa players have card slots.

And the Sansa E2xx's are Rockboxable. Just make sure it's a version 1. You can pick up refurbs really cheap from time to time from Buy.com and Woot.com

If you want to spend a little more and have a nice 2.5" touch screen take a look at the Cowon D2 for $110.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I like the cowon and have one myself, but it does not take the sd cards. The micro sd's are a little hard to keep track of and even harder to label. I really would like to find a cheapy that takes an sd.

The Cowon D2 does indeed take SD cards. In fact it takes full size SDHC cards.

If $110 for the D2 is too much for you, Newegg has a sale on a Creative ZEN 2.5" refurb for $57. It also takes full size SDHC cards.

The insignia sport series and above accept micro sd cards, support ogg, work great under Linux and have support for bluetooth headsets.

I have read that somewhere before, but haven't gotten around to trying it out.

I listened to the Hacker Public Radio episode Ogg player on the cheap and decided to try out the sansa e250. It was $8 on ebay, without the software cd. Unfortunately, I didn't realize in order to use Rockbox with it you needed a v1, and I have a v2, so I can't use Rockbox, which means I can't use most of the applications on it. It takes a micro sd card, but I can't access the card without the necessary software. I still enjoy the player though. For mp3 files it is plug and play with my eeepc, both xandros and ubuntu. The battery lasts a long time, and I can record off the fm radio. But it won't plug and play ogg files. I'm keeping my eye on an iriver, I saw a refurbished one on sale for $50. If the prices drop more I may try one of those.
