that was great, pat! i left OLF thinking, "wow, we had a grandfather of UNIX there! a man who was in the trenches at the start of it all." i left wishing he had told a bit more about the history of it all.

today i heard your interview with Doug and it gave me the computer history fix i was missing.

good job man, i enjoyed that.

I couldn't agree more. Very nice! Reminds me of one of my customers who wanted a quotation for an intranet solution, but he only wanted to work with 'proven technology'. He meant: Windows Server. I should let him listen to that part, it can't get more proven than Unix :D

Thanks for the kind words. A lot of people enjoyed the interview with Doug. I was very lucky to grab him in between sessions. I have to agree the interview was more interesting than the keynote. People were literally snoozing around me. The Saturday stuff at OLF needs to be over by 6:00 PM (the latest) as in years previous.

Seriously, I can't remember a podcast item that I enjoyed more!
Hugely interesting subject mater (Interesting to me anyway) and really a great interviewing technique from Pat. I doubt that many professional national TV or radio presenters could have conducted it better. Like Pat mentioned in ep320 all he needed was a little pushing along.

You guys are inflating my ego! Seriously though thanks for the encouraging words. Here was the number 3 Unix user in front me. In fact Thompson and Ritchie both worked for HIM!
