Finally thinking about getting a cell phone. Are these a good deal?

Meh. It's looks pretty low end. Another option is to get a used phone and do month to month. I know Tmobile and AT&T let you do this. Not sure about Verizon and Sprint. Just make sure you get the right phone (frequency) for the right carrier.

A nicer low end phone is the Optimus L or S. The carriers sell them for $30-$50. My wife is asking for an Android phone and t-mobile is doing a buy/get promotion again. I'll probably pick up a pair of Mytouch 4Gs today.

My goal is or was to get a unlocked prepaid phone with wifi, so as not to deal with a monthly contract. Things are really frugal right now unless someone can pull a rabbit out of a hat with the economy. Trying to put off taking early teacher retirement.
