Shit, after reading this article I feel even more proud about being an avid Nintendo fan since 1992 (Since I was four years old), and the ten reasons they mention to wait for the Revolution are all compelling to me, to me, looking forward to Super Mario, Super Smash Bros., Metroid Prime 3, is just amazing, but knowing that with Smash Bros. will offer free online gaming feels like when I was looking forward to christmas as a 4-year old.

Also the Revolution's backward compatibility features makes those of the Xbox 360 look ridiculous, good thing that Nintendo went with a PowerPC CPU for the GameCube, which allows the GC games to run natively on the Revolution.

I feel that Nintendo's got the revolution of gaming well in the bag. If I were ever inclined to buy another game system (other than my Intellivision), I think it would be the Revolution.

I think first person shooters on Revolution will be a pleasure to play, might even be more comfortable than a PC.

The good thing about all these next-gen consoles is that people will be less depending on Windows to play games, and thereby removing one of the barriers that prevents them from wanting to use Linux.

Yeah I have been I nintendo fanboy ever since I played mario on the NES (of course at that time I had no clue what a fanboy was ). I kinda wish I still had my old forums but I was too busy and left someone else in charge and now they are dead. I could start them up be it would be a big responsibility and take a lot of my time (which is kinda why I left in the first place). Anyways good article I think Revolution will have a slow startup but once people realize the controller isn't that bad they will do very well.

I don't think people see the controller as bad, I just think they need see through the hype of the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

Also, Nintendo is targeting a new market and wanting to expand the gaming market to the people they call non-gamers, like your mom, girlfriend or little sister.

Personally I really hope that their plan will be a success, because they don't have to sells more units to beat Microsoft and Sony IMHO, just deliver amazing stuff to the people that buy the console, and make it so good that others can't resist to at least take a peak then you got 'em

From what I hear, the hype around the 360 has been pretty much generated by the MS Publicity machine. "Real" gamers are not that impressed by the 360. I even get the impression the PS3 is in the same boat. What has Gamers really excited is the Revolution, and rightly so in my opinion.

I look at it this way. The PS has the games, even though a lot of them are pretty sucky. Sony has cornered the market there. The 360 has no personality; it's more of an engine, churning along but with no real value and not much interesting going on there. It's another piece of MS little or no innovation to capture more of a market.

Now the Revolution is going to be a work of art. That system is going to be dedicated to the gamer in everyone. It'll be innovative, stylish and just plain fun all around.

If theres one thing I've learned it's that change scares people. I just hope that they will be able to accept the change instead of rejecting it for an inferior product.

And I promise you that even though the PS3 is gonna have the same sort of hype, it's gonna be full of freaking DRM, which is something we all hate right?

What I like about Nintendo's plans with the Revolution, and the fact that they are making a "gaming console" and not some kind of multimedia machine, is that by concetrating on the gaming, which should be natural for Nintendo to do, they can make an even greater experience.

Dann does your wife play games? If not, maybe you should try to get her on the Revolution, Nintendo is trying to expand the market to the people they call "non-gamers" like ones wife or girlfrind, grandfather, mother, little sister and I can go on. I think that if anyone can do this, Nintendo can, because if you go back to the days of the NES (I got three of them sitting on my bookshelf ) the games were a lot simpler to play and much eaisier to learn, this I what Nintendo aims to do again.

I agree, same thing is what keeps a lot of people from using Linux, but my experience tells me that once people see why the change is good, they will try it themselves. I think what Nintendo needs to do is show everyone why the new controller is good, and in the US where the FPS genre is very popular, they just need a very good FPS game to do that job, and they ALREADY have one in development
Indeed it's Metroid Prime 3 they are working on, and Ubi Soft are also working on some stuff, Ubi Soft said earlier this year that they fully support Nintendo for the next generation.

Maybe we won't see Unreal Tournament on Revolution, but who needs that when you got Metroid Prime 3, Zelda, Mario Kart, Smash Bros. ???
