Firefox 1.5 doesn't see my plugins from 1.0.7

After installing Firefox 1.5, none of my plugins which Mozilla, Firefox 1.0.7, and Epiphany have installed, get imported. If I manually copy all my plugins like libflashplayer.so, and libjavaplugin_oji.so to my /usr/lib/firefox/plugins directory, from /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins (1.0.7's directory. Debian renamed the 'mozilla-firefox' package 'firefox'), Firefox 1.5 sees the plugins but none of them work. Flash animations display blank white areas, and Java, Mplayer, OpenOffice, etc, don't do anything. Am I missing something? I've tried doing everything I can think of.

Jumping from version 1.0.x to 1.5 is a big step. It's not surprising that the plugin API isn't the same.

Welcome to the bleeding edge!

;you'll more-than-likely need to reinstall those plugins.

;the good news is that 1.5 changes the updates engine, so maybe this will be the last time you'll have to do that.

I did not have this problem when trying out FF 1.5. I know there is an article out there somewhere on how to enable 1.0.x plugins under 1.5 (it's an about:config change, pretty easy; but I cannot find it).
