;cowon, makers of iaudio products, have a new PMP that looks interesting. it looks like the
nokia 770 a bit. i wonder if it runs on linux. it's the
cowon a2. here are some of the features:
- video support: divx, xvid, mpeg4
- audio support: mp3, ogg, wav
- usb host (plug in your digital camera)
- 20/30GB HDD

Looks nice. $350 is pretty steep though. It does play ogg files but has no wifi capability.

The iAudio X5 does - there are limits on the compression you can use though.

With the latest Firmware you can play up to Q8 I believe. Its odd they took out FLAC for the A2. It was a big bonus on the X5. A bunch of people on the iaudiophile.net forums use it with all their music.
Anyways the A2 is awesome as is the iAudio 6 and the iAudio U3. All their next generation stuff is kickass. Theres also a rumor that the next generation X5 will be released at CeBit next month. I have talked one of my friends into actually selling his Special edition U2 iPod for the iAudio A2. So hopefully I will be able to see just how kickass it really is. Its nice the A2 doesn't need a subpack also, its kinda annoying carrying that thing around and it slides off too easily.

Yeah, that subpack is one of the major downsides of the X5.
