"Must-haves:

* update Linux theme to fit with Gnome look & feel"
I'm starting to get pretty mad at Mozilla, since Firefox is a such a popular program, do the KDE users a favor and keep it desktop neutral!
Would someone please make a very functional Gecko-based web browser for KDE, I like Firefox, but I fucking hate the fact that they're making it more a "GNOME app" it just annoys the hell out of me, GNOME already have a Gecko-based native browser, keep Firefox neutral at least.
I think most of us can agree on the fact that the number of KDE users are larger than that of GNOME users, why are every freaking big name app getting to be a "native GNOME app" ??? I'm not saying everything should be designed for KDE; but fucking keep things neutral!

I hardly use firefox anymore. In fact, the only time I do is when things don't work in konq. Yes, it has all those cool plugins, but I don't need them.

Yeah I've been thinking about using Konqueror for more of the web browsing that I do, but the problem I have with Konqueror, and any browser in general, is that if it crashes when you have a lot of pages open you're screwed.
Firefox has this extention called SessionSaver which saves the tabs and stuff, even in the case of a crash.

I've started to wonder about that myself. With Firefox 1.5, I've started using it more often than Konqueror, since I'm just getting too accustomed to using it on the Mac at work, and a few extensions are really growing on me. Some of the new ones, like Reveal, are a lot of fun. Separe is more useful though, and really helps me out during extended browsing sessions.
I don't know if we need a gecko based KDE browser. I know what I would greatly prefer is for Konqueror to have extensions the way Firefox does. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that Konq can have extensions, but they must to be written in C+. If people could write extensions for Konqueror in Java, Python, or something like that, then perhaps Konqueror would have similar extensions as well.
How beautiful would it be if you could use Firefox extensions in Konqueror? The speed and integration of Konqueror, with the extensions I love. Wouldn't it be loverly...

I think you are correct on that, if you bring up Konqueror and go to Settings --> Configure Konqueror, you can find section in here called "Plugins".
Konqueror can actually use Netscape plugins for stuff like Flash and such, but it can't use Firefox extensions.

In order to do that, Konqueror's whole interface would need a rewrite, the reason Firefox has so many extensions is that it's interface is done with XML and Javascript (That's Mozilla XUL technology), which a lot of people who're into web design can eaisily understand and start to hack on. Since KDE 4.0 will have this new Plasma API for applets, maybe Konqueror can have some form of extensions.

I have been transitioning to Opera since its Nice and Qt based (I think) and it does save the session even when it crashes. I like how Opera doesn't look like crap and it has some nice features Firefox might not have like the ability to zoom in and out of a webpage, also flash works on my 64bit machine without the GUI going funky. It also has a very nice wand tool to save all your input fields if you want (it works a lot better than firefox's way) and it has a nice refresh every {amount of time} function as well, and it just passed the Acid2 test. I still like the awesome extensions firefox has and the wide selection of quick search bars. Opera very rarely doesn't display pages correct and sometimes the images just stop loading on a page (probly a bug that will be worked out soon), and Google videos don't load (maybe a 64bit problem?) but overall its pretty nice and better than ugly, unstable firefox right now. I still wish it integrated as nicely as Konqueror but meh I can live with it.

I think part of the reason Firefox and Thunderbird are GTK based, is because environments, and window managers other than GNOME display them better than something that uses Qt. Qt applications like Skype look atrocious on anything that's not KDE.

Since KDE 3.5, I haven't had any crashing issues with Konqueror... during web browsing or otherwise.

Konqueror on my machine is quite stable but when it crashes it's really really frustrating, my Firefox also rarely crashes, but WHEN it does it's so frustrating if I don't have SessionSaver.

I wouldn't say I have "issues" but konq does crash from time to time. It's not common though, I'll certainly say that for sure.

Konq's been stable for me on 3.5, too; I rarely have a problem with it. I can't say that I'm too upset with Mozilla, though, since the main problem is that they've made a damned fine browser, Firefox, that pulls me away from a very good browser, Konqueror. I lose some of the integration of Konqueror in KDE, but gain Web Developer Toolbar, Separe, and of course, the Bork, Bork, Bork extension.
Opera is pretty slick, but I need my Swedish chef translation...
