I just heard on the radio that microsoft has announced it has delayed vista till after the holiday season.

not that I care but I just LOL'ed. so much for their holiday profit.

And the main concern is improving security features. Sounds like more swiss cheese OS offerings from M$.

I think the announcemen meant that OEM and business versions would be available *for* the holiday season, but if you wanted a boxed set rather than a new Dell, you'd have to wait until Jan.

Yeah no kidding, remember that Bill Gates said yesterday, or the day before that, that Microsoft would try to release a new version of IE per year? Then I'm thinking that he forgot to say "And 100 critical security patches per month as a bonus!".

The Vista for businesses would be available by November, but home users will have to wait until January 2007.
Since Dell uses a direct order model, there is a slight chance that they can deliver Vista for the holiday season, but it's a slim chance.

I look forward to see the final version of Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10, that is gonna kick some serious ass for corporate use.

Also I'm certainly not planning to even try Vista on my machine, with Novell open sourcing AppArmor, that they acquired from Immunix, fully, and turning it on my default their future products, I think we're gonna see some quite well secured products from Novell.

I've been playing around with the Lite version of AppArmor, which was included in SUSE 10.0, and it's just a breeze to set up, much much eaisier than SELinux.
