In case you are not aware of it, Microsoft Windows is a closed proprietary operating system, it's even a miracle that Wine can do what it can, so I think you are extremely unfair to the Wine developers here, they have spent 12 years reverse engineering the Windows API and I think they've come A LONG way, Wine is acutally decent in some situations. Since we can't have a look at the Windows sourcecode at figure out how the Windows API truly works, the thing you say about "Ohhh Linux can't run my games" will never truly happen, especially with Windows Vista since DirectX is getting more and more advanced, it will be VERY hard to deal with it. If you want more games on Linux, buy from the companies that are nice to develop Linux versions such as id software and Atari/Epic, and call the other guys up and ask them "Do you support Linux?" and obviously they will say no, but at least they are hearing that there are a market in developing for Linux.
What I do is that I just use consoles, I have a GameCube that serves my needs very very well, and I really look forward to the Revolution because I think that for the first time, FPS games will be just as cool to play on a console as on a PC with a mouse and keyboard, and I can download and play NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis and TurbograFX games on it. Consoles are a great way to avoid the OS lock-in, and if you are one of those guys that value graphics more than the gameplay, you should consider the Xbox 360 or the PS3, but since I value the gameplay a billion times more than graphics, actually I could give a rats ass about graphics because the GameCube is more than good enough for me, I'm going with the Nintendo Revoluion, but that's up to you which one you might favor.

Well, then have a look at TransGaming's compatibility database right here:

And see how your games would run under Cedega, if most of them do, you could pay the 5 bucks for one month and not more, then you could play those games, that's the only way to solve your situation.
If I were you, I would just sell the PC games on eBay or something, and then go out and buy either an Xbox 360, or wait for a Nintendo Revolution or the PS3, this way you could use whatever OS you want. For example I use *BSD on a bunch of my boxes along with Linux on my main workstation of course.
