Do a search on linux and OSX in the comments. These guys are really running scared.

I just love all the microsoft fanboys who install one linux distro probably on windows only crap hardware and declare it is not ready for the normal user.

linux is ready for the normal user and if they don't realize that then they are dumber than I thought.

it is easier to install than windows.

vista not coming before christmas is going to hurt microsoft in the pocket book more than I think.

I am beginning to wonder if it will come out in 2007 - the way they talk about the dis-organization inside microsoft. How would you like to be a developer right now for microsoft working on vista - you think ballmer isn't goint to make them work some extra hours.

I also think that microsoft is just doing what it always has done - freeze the market and announce when their new os is coming out - they have always done it and will always keep doing it. I think the DOJ needs to look into these announcements.

Microsoft is doomed. They've already taken out all the best features of Vista, and now it's delayed until 2007. From the looks of it, there won't be a mass consumer adoption of Vista until holiday 2007! By that time, XGL and desktop Linux will be primetime.

Yeah, those idiots are just a bunch of lamers, or as I say "Windows whiners", something else these guys sometimes do is that they take the distros that are harder to use than others, for example I remember some idiot trying Debian and declaring that Linux was not ready for the desktop, Windows users are just so stupid sometimes. Debian is cool and all that, but it's not a newbie-friendly distribution, go for Mandriva, SUSE, Fedora or even freaking Ubuntu for that matter.

Absolutely man, couldn't agree more, you could argue that Linux or even BSD for that matter, is a heck of a lot more ready for the desktop than Windows is, because of all the security, reliability and stability issues.

It's much much eaisier, I find even FreeBSD eaisier to install than Windows, I actually timed my last FreeBSD install, I had a minimum install running in 3 freaking minutes! And it took me just about 20 mins. to get X and KDE running! That is 23 mins. compared to hours sometimes with Windows.

Yeah and if you've been following the news you hear about Microsoft employies complaining about the management there.

Well, I do think it will come out in 2007, the question is, WHAT will come out? I bet ya they are going to strip out a couple more features and then ship a pile of crap!

That's monopoly for ya, but you know all hope is not lost, with Novell backing the Linux desktop 100% for the corporate market, I think Linux may be able to gain a little bit of market share, not a lot, but a little is always good, because if you put a lot of small parts together you have something big in the end.

XGL, AIGLX, KDE 4.0, and lots and lots of good new stuff will be out by then.

I doubt any of this will change a thing. That's what it means to be a monopoly. It's not like people are not buying computers because they don't come with Vista installed - MS still get's it's $$$ from Dell and the like, they just egt it for XP, not Vista. All 99% of the end users will know is that they are buyng another XP filled Dell instead of a Vista filled one - most of them wouldn't even be able to tell you the name "Vista" let alone what it would mean for them to have it instead of XP on their new PC. Hell, the marketplace is still FULL of people running 98 at home - work at an ISP for any length of time, and you'll see this for your self. Most biz customers won't adopt vista for several years no matter what the release date, so I don't see this being an issue for MS either.
