Scanner reccomendations

Good Morning:

I am going to buy a scanner to scan photo albums. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for which scanner would work best with Linux (Kanotix)? I don't need anything too fancy just something that does a descent job and is easy to use and I don't want a small one , I need one that will scan 8x11. I heard HP is linux friendly, is that true?. Thanks for any input in advance.

You may find something useful here.

Although it's a Mandriva compatibility chart, it still might help you in general.
