What are YOU runing?

I am, as always, interested in the kinds of hardware and it's purpose in the average geek household. To that end, what kinds of computers are running in *your* house and what are you using them for?

Here at Linc's Lab, I run:
2 Sparcstation 20's - a mail/intranet webserver and it's backup running Debian
2 *old* Dell 2xxmhzmmx Pent's - mp3 server/file server/DNS/DHCP/NTP server and it's backup both running NetBSD
Pent 4xxmhz - gateway/router/webserver running Slackware 9.1
AMD Duron 950 - main workstation/print server running Slack 9.1
Pent 4xxmhz - secondary workstation/backup server(big disk space) running Slack 9.0
HP 9000/735 - HPUX test bed machine running HPUX 10.20
P90 Laptop - portable serial terminal mostly/checking out the latest NetBSD running, of course, NetBSD
P400 Laptop - portable workstation/TLLTS audio station running Slackware 9.0
Sparcstation voyager - portable workstation/sparc test install platform currently running SPLACK
SGI Octane - intranet webserver/IRIX testbed running IRIX
Then there are the ones I am not *currently* using but do use on occasion:
There's an Indy, 3 macs, 3 vaxen, a couple shoebox Sparcs, Digital Alphastation, and other odds and ends. I would love to get all this stuff runing all at once but need a bigger place to play

Well no wonder nobody replied, with that intimidating list of hardware before us. I can't match that, but I'll let my nerd manhood out in the open anyway:

1 Dell Optiplex GX150 1GHZ w 512MB RAM running Fedora at the moment
- Acting as the head node for my cluster proof of concept at the moment,
looking to turn it into a MythTV box over the summer...

1 Dell X200 Laptop, 800mhz w 384MB RAM running Gentoo w 2.6.4 kern + KDE 3.2
- Mah main squeeze!

1 Emachines (it was a hand me down I swear!) 400mhz w 512MB running Gentoo w 2.4.?
- Webserver thats currently not turned on. CLI only.

1 IBM PS/2 Consultant, 486DX baby... 16MB of RAM, running the Dachstien LEAF distro
- This little champ is my router firewall

1 Dell Wireless AP

1 Dell Optiplex GL+ 5100... not quite sure about the stats, this lonely guy is waiting for a good project.

OK, I'll bite.

1) Dell Inspiron 8200 - P4, 256 RAM, dual boot, Mandrake 9.2 and the OS that will remain nameless. I hardly ever use that other OS. Mandrake is not a stock install though. It's running KDE 3.2.2. and Gnome 2.6 on it and kernel 2.6.6. Also have wireless going on that too. It's a powerhouse and I used it almost exclusively for my Grad School Project - all done with OpenOffice. It began with Mandrake 9.0 and has also had Fedora Core 1 installed on it.

2) Pieced together desktop - P3, 256 RAM, Soyo 7vba-133 board, TNT 32 MB card, two hard drives, Sony CD/RW, kernel 2.6.7. It has morphed from RH 7.3 to Fedora Core 1 to Mandrake 9.2. Overall, a nice little machine. Used for web browsing, email, office apps, and listening to the Tech Show.

3) Old Gateway 2000 - Pentium 133, 48 RAM, headless, managed by webmin, RH 7.3/kernel 2.4.20. Currently running Apache and Vsftp and is used as an NFS server.

4) Gateway 600MHz/128MB, runs that other OS, circa 1998. Used mostly by my wife. The only time I touch it is to update the anti-virus and to see how my websites look in that inferior web browser most people use.

5) IBM 300GL, Pentium 200, 32 MB RAM, acts as an NFS server, running FreeBSD 4.7.

6) Enough spare components to piece together a Pentium and a Pentium 2 but I haven't done so.

Actually I forgot 1, a p433 E-machines box that I own but use at work running NetBSD as a tier2 ntp server, ftp server and secondary workstation.
Then there are the ones I just got at TCF:

sparcstation 5 with the 110mhz weitek powerup

What am I gonna do with them? Well, play on them of course! I'll figure something out

Hey I have one of those running NetBSD. Runs *fantastic!*. I hear a lot of people complaining about those boxes but mine hasn't given me a lick of trouble.

The ones I have seen have had a lot of problems. This one had a new power supply and ram put into it. Also, when trying to upgrade, trying to find documentation was a nightmare. It isn't as much of an issue anymore since all computers are becoming the same.

You are living my dream. Seriously. If my parents didnt complain about me having so many computers (I have 8 that boot, but only 4 that I use on a regular basis), I think my collection would grow into something like yours.

Heh! A lot I guess. I am a collector, not a very good one though I have <gasp> 25 upstairs here with me. There are a *lot* more in my basement - mostly 8bit machines like appleII's and comodore's and the like, but there are a few macs and unix boxes down there on the bench as well, and then there's still a sparc5 in my car and an Emachine running NetBSD that belongs to me in my office....

All of them run but I really only have like 9 of them running at the moment, but that changes day to day as well.

My wife is *very* forgiving. I have friends though with acres more computing power than I have. In fact, one of my friends has (I think) 4 Cray supercomputers amongst a housefull of other things.

Being a Linux N00bie none of my machines have anything but Windows, though one 1 PC I do have a 10 gig partition named "Linux". So I'm still thinking about it. All is not hopeless with me.

I took the poor thing in along with an
AST Premmia 4/33.
Oh well, better then having nightmares of not saving the "good" PC's from the landfills at least for a few more years.
I may give the E machine a go with a distro fulltime once I figure out what's going on in that world.

you may be able to put yellowdog linux on the Mac, I am not sure though.

Thx pthread for the idea and a quick search in Google looks like you are correct.
But, that's the last thing I need right now is another project on a Mac no less, yikes!

I did reformat "E" drive on this PC into FAT32 and parked Knoppix there. The desktop icon has been changed to "Linux World".

I'll be a linux n00bie for quite sometime as I really should be composing some new music too.

Just not enough time for everything!! I could get me a rich lady and quit my job, that would help somewhat. Hmmmm?

Yes, I have Yellowdog running in a 8600, a 9500, and a Blue and white G3. It works great!

Funny thing actually, somebody just posted a news article over at philly2600 about getting OS X to run on an x86, he needs to repost it, because his web browser must have been smoking crack all the letters were all jumbled, but I will check it out, if it is worth anything I will post a link here...
