The Canadian National Post looks on with mild horror as American linguists report on the growing trend in the American south to use "Canadian" as a masking euphemism for black people, so that white racists can say socially inappropriate things without tipping listeners off about the cancer in their souls.

Last August, a blogger in Cincinnati going by the name CincyBlurg reported that a black friend from the southeastern U.S. had recently discovered that she was being called a Canadian. "She told me a story of when she was working in a shop in the South and she overheard some of her customers complaining that they were always waited on by a Canadian at that place. She didn't understand what they were talking about and assumed they must be talking about someone else," the blogger wrote.

"After this happened several times with different patrons, she mentioned it to one of her co-workers. He told her that ‘Canadian' was the new derogatory term that racist Southerners were using to describe persons they would have previously referred to [with the N-word.]"

I suppose that's progress of a sort. You've got to be a real namby-pamby racist if you're so afraid of what people will think.

My wife reported this to me well over a year ago. Apparently it started in the shipyards as a way to "express" racist attitudes without getting in trouble.

What pathetic, ignorant cowards. I've yet to understand the purpose of racism. You have good people and bad people in any so-called ethnic group. Maybe one of these days one of these ignorant bastards will need a life-saving operation from a "Canadian" surgeon, and then they'll be eating their words.

I live in the south and this is just what we need, some more ignorant southerners to make the rest of us look bad. And southerners wonder why the southern states are always the butts of jokes. It seems that assholes like these are the only ones that get attention, while the rest of us southerners with a brain and some decency are ignored.

I hate to rain on your parade, but the black community are not all angels either and they have their share of racists also. As long as someone does not shove their ethnicity down my gut, It does not matter to me where someone is from. I do take exception to people saying that "so-called racists" have no reason to feel the way they do. I know someone who back in 1991?, the day when the California cops were found not guilty or whatever was almost murdered after the black man told him because he was white he needed to be taught a lesson. When the black police officers arrived he had blood coming out his face like a fire hose and they did not even call for an ambulance until the security guard at the building begged them to. That person's face is still extremely disfigured from the attack. Maybe someone has a right to feel the way they do even if it seems wrong. He never had a prejudiced bone in his body until then.

What will be real sad is if Hillary Dlinton wins the bid for president and has Obama as vice-president. You know some idiot jerk will try to assassinate her as president so the US will have it's first black president. They you will know the true way of that community.

Is it sad that I laughed when I read the topic? I'm not racist or nationalist(I know thats not the right word ) but being a huge fan of South Park and a moderate fan of Dave Chappelle I just couldn't help it.

Now that you mention it, that does seem like something out of South Park. I wouldn't be surprised to see an episode come out of this story.
