So what do you Europeans do today? Sit on the couch with a beer... I mean Ale... and watch boxing all day? I wish we had that holiday. :)

Boxing Day seems to be specific to the UK, doesn't cover all of Europe:
"Boxing Day is a public holiday in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong and countries in the Commonwealth of Nations with a mainly Christian population. In South Africa, this public holiday is now known as the Day of Goodwill. It is based on the tradition of giving gifts to the less fortunate members of society. Contemporary Boxing Day in many countries is now a "shopping holiday" associated with after-Christmas sales."

That ignorant Englishman (I'm kidding!) Allix, is in the Czech Republic right now, so greggh I think you'll have to wait for him to show up to get an answer to your question.

Boxing Day in the UK for the average guy is spent in the pub watching football, proper football, I believe the Americans call it soccer or something  . I am not the average UK guy, so I spent boxing day hacking my Nintendo Wii which I got for christmas. Oh and I did spend some time with my son :D .
By the way this year the christmas holiday here was the longest since 1968. The people that work for my father finished work at 12 pm christmas eve and didn't return to work until the 5th of january. 12 days off 7 off which they get paid for. I on the other hand being the bosses son, had to go into work and repair and service some machinery, but it was still a great christmas.
This is my truth, now tell me yours.
