Boxing Day seems to be specific to the UK, doesn't cover all of Europe:

In Slovenia, today is Independence Day

Boxing Day in the UK for the average guy is spent in the pub watching football, proper football, I believe the Americans call it soccer or something . I am not the average UK guy, so I spent boxing day hacking my Nintendo Wii which I got for christmas. Oh and I did spend some time with my son .
By the way this year the christmas holiday here was the longest since 1968. The people that work for my father finished work at 12 pm christmas eve and didn't return to work until the 5th of january. 12 days off 7 off which they get paid for. I on the other hand being the bosses son, had to go into work and repair and service some machinery, but it was still a great christmas.
