I know, when I first started using KDE and Konqueror, I didn't really think much of the spellcheck in Konq, but when I started using Firefox, I started to really notice its absence.

Actually, I edited the post and corrected the spelling, but apparently corrected it wrong. :D

It's just a matter of laziness. Most people are lazy, and I have a friend who's a horrible speller, and will not check his spelling before he posts to our forum. It's not a big deal, but it just might help him, and if you use something like drupal or joomla for your website, then it's also a nice safety net.

It saves me an extra step while I'm working, and I always appreciate that.
You bettcha it's laziness. I am a horrible speller and 75% of the time I don't bother to spell check, especially in forums. It's not like I am typing a resume or term paper. In my opinion forums are casual and typos can be expected. But that is a neat feature, if that is what you are looking for. I will have to check out ff 2.0

 In that very post I managed to make a grammatical mistake that I had to go in and correct, too.

My eyes are horrible, though, so sometimes I have a difficult time even seeing a typo or spelling mistake. Those little red squiggly lines are already coming in pretty handy for me.
