Another user converted...

Post by gordonmarkus » Tue Dec 05, 2006 2:21 pm

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that I there's one more linux user in the world as of tonight! My mate James who is not really into computing at all got given his Dad's old PC (a 400Mhz box with 192Mb RAM and a 10Gb drive) running win '98. It kept on crashing, and running like a complete dog - so I've taken it off him and stuck Ubuntu 6.10 on it. I've just finished setting it up, and it's ok - not exactly lightening quick, but then it wasn't before!

I hope he likes it!

-Gordon.

that is awesome

I upgraded two people I converted over to linux last year just recently to edgy using ssh over the internet and using apt-get and it worked like a charm.

they are very happy with their os on their older computers - they too were running windows but it was windows 2000 and were sick of all the blue screens they were getting.

of course microsoft told them it was their hardware but since I put ubuntu on their computers it has never crashed and without changing any hardware.

of course microsoft's solution to everything is either reboot or buy another computer so they can get another license sold.

seems like this should be against the law or something. seems like they are in collusion with the hardware manufacturers to me in just getting people to buy more and more instead of fixing what they got.

these people I converted are now getting two plus or more years out of their investment that microsoft told them to get rid of.
