Went to a local electronics shop today to pick up a new universal remote for our home entertainment centre.
They had just what I was looking for, but of course, the young sales guy did his best to rope me in and buy the higher priced remote. He started to show me all of its' great features and why it was worth the extra $100.00 bucks.
I was starting to get a bit irritated, then he mentioned how this remote control could be hooked up to my PC and uploaded with new functions from the manufacturer, therefore always having the latest firmware.
"Ha," I thought, "got you now." I then asked, "is it Linux compatible?" Oh, no it wasn't, and that finally shut him up and ended the sales pitch.
Thank you, Linux!
Another advantage of being a Linux user...

Reminds me of an episode on the first season of Chappel's show where they were spoofing on copy shops. They had a bit where the employees were told how to not accept computer disks from customers by telling them if they had a windows disk that they only accept mac. If they had a mac disk they only accept pc. And if they had both mac and pc; tell them "we use Linux."
Really funny, but maybe not here. Anyway it was good to hear linux brought up in the mainstream.
