Where are you getting this information from? I've searched around and the only thing I can find is apparently a fud blog posting which is refuted here.
Apparently the neo1973 is a "quadband worldwide gsm headset" - that's from the posting. If you look at the neo1973 specs from the openmoko site you will see that it is listed as triband: http://www.openmoko.com/products-neo-ba ... tdkit.html
