Marina Del Rey-based video on demand firm CinemaNow has scored an agreement with WideVine Technologies, a provider of DRM software, for its effort to move its products onto consumer electronic devices. The deal was announced by Seattle-based WideVine this morning. No financial details of the deal were announced, however WideVine said that CinemaNow's content will be available on major consumer electronic devices and PCs, using its DRM technology. CinemaNow has been working on expanding the distribution of its service beyond its online site and towards a device-centric strategy. In an interview with socalTECH earlier this year, David Cook, the firm's COO, said that the firm has been focusing on what it can do to embed its service into devices effectively. Widevine said that its technology will also be used to provide content protection on Windows, Mac or Linux PCs and Internet browsers.
