Hibernate and Suspend with Gnome

Post by jturning » Mon Feb 02, 2009 11:00 pm

I was playing with my Fedora 10 laptop over the weekend checking out how well hibernate and suspend work. Both work perfectly on my HP laptop, but I found this strange thing with Gnome. It will just pop you right back into the session with no password needed unless you set the screensaver to lock the computer. I did some Googling and found some bug reports dealing with it, and general complaining, but I didn't see another solution. Am I missing something, or did the Gnome folks kind of mess this up. Seems to me if your machine is setup to require a login, it should also require that on resume from hibernation or suspend independent of the screensaver.
