Episode 304 Audio Quality

Post by lnxguit » Fri Jun 26, 2009 12:38 pm

I enjoy listening to your show, but the audio quality is often unacceptable. If you could eliminate the hard clipping and the echoes, your show would really benefit.
I wonder if the hard clipping is coming from post-processing?
Thanks, sorry to bitch.

Yeah episode 304 was a mess. We apologize for it. We had to use a backup file after Dann's workstation took a dump. The echoing on my end was my fault. I installed a new monitor right before the show and threw a bunch of cables on my mixer. My return level got bumped up and the echoing was on my end of the recording. Sorry.

Wow, I didn't know how you would respond to that - very gracious.
I know it's tough to pull off a show like you're doing, since so many elements have to come together.

Minus the hiccups, great show and guest. Jeri is definitely an interesting lady. Being a ham I play with electronics, but it would be fun to have her kind of knowledge. I'm surprised she's not a ham, or at least my name lookup came up empty. In the following video she talked about having AM transmitter contests with a friend and using old ARRL Ham Radio Handbooks for help.

It was good to hear Allan talk. Especially about the software for doing the electronics design and the issues associated with it. Certainly seemed to let Jeri feel more at home. With all the dead time. I finally gave up listening, but all good otherwise.

Yeah the audio was a little echoing in places but that was more than made up for by the quality of the content.
Thanks guys, probably the best show since I've been a listener (circa 235-ish :? ) Takes me right back to the early '80s when I was doing electronics at university.
