BeleniX Live OpenSolaris

Trying out this nifty live OpenSolaris distribution, called BeleniX. It seems pretty cool, it has XFce, Firefox 1.5 beta, Gaim, XMMS, and some other cool apps. For a live CD it takes a really long time to boot though, especially compared to Kanotix. Another thing is that my sound card seems to not be supported. Solaris's x86 hardware support isn't quite as good as Linux yet unfornately. If anyone wants to give it a try, download the 220mb ISO from http://belenix.sarovar.org/belenix_home.html.

Back in the day (1995) I successfully installed Solaris on a 75 mhz Pentium I computer. It was not usuable! Back then Sco was the best version of unix that ran on x86 hardware. This is long before they turned into what they are now. My first interaction with linux was when the unix guru in my group installed Slackware on an old box and ran it as an intranet server. Man how things have changed since then.
