Damn, KDE 3.5 is nice

I've never been a huge KDE fan before, but I just installed 3.5 on my other machine and I'm liking it alot. Konqueror seems to render pages alot better now, and it's quite fast too. There's also quite a few little GUI improvements I've been noticing as well. Good stuff.

I have a virtual instance of KDE 3.5 running in VMware and it just flyes, at least on my machine, the myths that KDE is super slow, bloated and ugly are absolutely false!

Even when I have PC-BSD running under SUSE Linux, aka two KDE sessions on the same memory, it just runs quite nicely. Sure XFCE is faster, but to say that KDE is slow, not true in my opinion.

KDE definitely isn't slow. Not with 512MB of RAM anyway. Compared to GNOME on the same machine, KDE 3.5 is noticeably faster. Right now I have every GUI effect/animation turned on, and it's still pretty quick. I'm also really digging Amarok, Kopete, Konqueror, and alot of the integration that goes along with KDE.

I have a bunch of friends who run KDE on machines with 256 - 384 MB, although with 256 it isn't quite as smooth as with 512, it's not like it's slow, it just takes like a second longer to bring up Konqueror and stuff like that, much more usable than Windows with Norton AntiVirus, if any piece of software in this world is big and bloated it's Norton AntiVirus and ZoneAlarm firewall.
