Nothing can beat the proven security of Windows XP, especially with the integrated Windows firewall.

I'd put my trust in my old GEOS operating system (remember that?) over MicroShaft software any day!

My Windows XP system is the most secure system at my house. I only boot it once a month, it is running no exploitable services, has never had a virus, spy-ware or even an attempted attack.

The point is any OS can be secure or insecure depending on how it's administered. No OS is completely secure by default. Unix was originally very insecure, and wasn't tightened up until the 80s

I would have voted for VMS if there were such an option. It's supposed to be extremely secure.

I am aware of that, but for example I do think that OpenBSD is a little more secure out of the box than say Fedora is, and I'm just guessing here
Yeah I know OpenBSD doesn't have a lot of services enabled by default, but that's part of what makes it secure, you KNOW what's on there and know a what to look for in security reports, if there's an exploit, it's just a quick compile, and you're all fixed!

You'll remember that the TLLTS honeypot was a default install of Fedora, and it was never cracked.

Good enough for me.

Of course, I do remember that and I am not saying by any means that Fedora is insecure, because it isn't, it can be tough as a mountain to crack, by default it turns on a firewall, and encourages SELinux, it is by no means insecure.

I just thought it would be fun to see what OS people saw as the most secure.
