Tapioca - GoogleTalk for Linux

Post by Tsuroerusu » Thu Mar 23, 2006 9:19 am

Just picked this up at digg: http://tapioca-voip.sourceforge.net/wik ... hp/Tapioca

This seems to implement the libjingle that Google released, since the retards over at Skype have pretty much abadoned their Linux support, it would be interesting to see very well designed clients for GoogleTalk on Linux, AFAIK GoogleTalk has a little better sound quality than Skype.

yeah its great we have an open standard for VoIP. It's great Google jumped in there at this time because there isn't a much mainstream use yet unlike the instant messaging market. I have the patch for Kopete to use jingle and I think the new GAIM is using it as well so hopefully jingle/GoogleTalk will really take off. I much prefer it to Skype.

Dude let me tell you something, I'm getting to the point where I'm saying that Skype sucks, that program just pisses me off, it doesn't even use freaking ALSA and causes tons of issues when you use a soundcard that doesn't do hardware mixing.
